Enjoying magnums of the No.1 ranked Rose in the Yarra Valley at Medhurst has to be one of the best ways to enjoy a day out in the YV.
A visit to Four Pillars Gin Distillery in Healesville is always a good time. On weekends groups of over 8 will have to book and you’ll have to visit before midday to get in.
When you arrive at Four Pillars you have the choice of an in-depth formal 30 minute long tasting at the bar which involves a straight tasting of 5 gins ($10pp). Or alternatively you can purchase a gin paddle which comes with a 3 gins (Australian Rare Dry, Navy Strength and Bloody Shiraz Gin) and a bottle of tonic for $13.
Helen & Joey Winery is a great place to visit for larger groups who want an informal atmosphere combined with epic views.
Seville Hill produces fantastic wines and the setting is absolutely stunning. Highly recommend this place for private groups particularly in the late afternoon.
Yarra Valley Dairy offers delicious platters or you can simply enjoy a free cheese tasting where you’ll get a small sample of 4 of their cheeses.
Yering Farm is a small family owned vineyard & orchard that is a great place for groups looking for a relaxed tasting and is a great spot to enjoy a picnic platter.
Enjoying a Pruners Platter at Yering Farm
Watts River Brewery is close to Four Pillars and for $5 you can sample a range of their beers which includes a Blonde, IPA, Stout and Pale Ale amongst others.
Lunch options in the Yarra Valley that are affordable and quick are limited but the guys at Watts River Brewery in Healesville do $15 pizzas and if your group spends over $60 then your beer tastings are free which is a solid deal.
Meleto’s Brewhouse (formerly Detour Beer) is a great option for those looking to enjoy a craft beer or cider in the Yarra Valley
A private chocolate tasting at Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice-Creamery is an awesome way to finish off a day in the Yarra Valley and only costs $30 for groups up to 10.
