Mornington Peninsula Hike & Hot Springs Tour

Enjoy one of Melbourne’s Best Day Trips!

Good Times Tours offers one of the best day trips from Melbourne! This tour involves an amazing short hike out to the pristine white sands of Bushrangers Bay to explore rock pools created by the ancient volcanic rock. We’ll also explore Cape Schanck before visiting the Peninsula Hot Springs so you can relax after enjoying one of the best coastal hikes in Victoria.

Tour Departs 

Russell Street Extension directly behind Federation Square at 8:00am on designated days below. Please note it’s approximately 200m from Flinders Street Station.

Tour Returns 

Melbourne at approx. 6:00pm (drop-off address is the same as pickup)

Minimum Group Size – 4

Maximum Group Size – 11

Activity Level – The day involves approx. 8km of easy walking. Guests are encouraged to bring runners or hiking shoes for extra grip when exploring the rock pools.

Food – Fruit/Muesli bars and a sandwich are provided as snacks and lunch on the day. We’ll also supply water, but please bring a water bottle so that we can reduce our plastic usage. The vehicle also has a fridge on board if you would like to bring additional food/drinks.

What to bring –  Your day pack with water bottle, towel, hat, jacket, sunglasses and sunscreen. Please also bring a good pair of runners and a swim wear for the Peninsula Hot Springs.

Tour Itinerary

The day begins with an easy drive to Arthurs Seat which sits 300m above the Peninsula and provides impressive views over Port Phillip Bay & beyond. From here we drive to Cape Schanck Lighthouse which forms part of the Mornington Peninsula National Park to commence our epic 7.5km return walk out to Bushrangers Bay. This walk is absolutely up there with the Pinnacles, Mt Oberon etc. as one of the best short hikes in Victoria. The trail takes you through dense coastal heathland which hugs the dramatic cliffs before descending down onto the sandy beach of Bushrangers Bay. Once on the beach I encourage guests to take off their shoes and walk along the shore before we reach ancient the volcanic geological rock formation called Elephant Rock and its amazing rock pools. The contrasts between these ancient volcanic rocks, the cliffs and sandy beach provides incredible photo opportunities. Once back at Cape Schanck we’ll descend the wooden boardwalks to further explore coastal lookouts and the black pebble beach which leads to the striking  Pulpit Rock. Now that we’ve worked up an appetite we’ll enjoy a sandwich and fruit in the grounds of the lighthouse.

After lunch we drive a short distance to the Peninsula Hot Springs where guests will have the chance to spend 2.5 hours relaxing in the various hot springs and take the opportunity to experience a Turkish steam bath, sauna, cold plunge pools and the hilltop pool with 360 degree views of the Peninsula. There is simply no better way to relax after a great hike. We’ll depart the Hot Springs at 4:30pm for a 6pm arrival in Melbourne.

Organised this wine tour to celebrate a couple of birthdays from work. Jono was very approachable, accommodating and flexible in terms of letting us choose our lunch destination. Each cellar door was very welcoming as Jono knew some of the winemakers and introduced us to them. Jono even went as far as suggesting this gorgeous spot for a great autumn pic.
