Tour Itinerary

Please note that the Great Ocean Road/Grampians tour is completely flexible in terms of the attractions and activities on offer. Also we are flexible enough to change the itinerary if the weather means its best to visit the Grampians on day 1 and then the Great Ocean Road on day 2.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

  • First stop is Bells Beach to watch surfers ride the world famous surf break that features annually on the ASP World Tour.
  • Next stop is the Split Point lighthouse which provides incredible views over Fairhaven beach and the start of the iconic Great Ocean Road.
  • We then visit Lorne where we’ll enjoy lunch and have some time to go for a swim, throw the frisbee or even play beach cricket if weather permits.
  • Next stop is the stunning Erskine Falls which involves a short walk to the base of the falls and if you are game, you can stand under the waterfalls!
  • For one of the best views on the Great Ocean Road and one that only small vans can get to, we visit Teddy’s Lookout.
  • Back in the van, we drive 20mins along the coast to Kennetts River, where we get the opportunity to see Koalas and local Koalas King Parrots. There is a small general store here and groups often enjoy having an afternoon coffee.
  • Next we head to Apollo Bay which is a beautiful little coastal town and we stop at one of the most gorgeous beaches on the Great Ocean Road.
  • A quick drive from Apollo Bay, we stop at Mait’s Rest and do a short 800m walk through the temperate rainforest with amazing Mountain Ash and Myrtle Beech trees.
  • Next we head to the Gibson Steps and 12 Apostles for sunset. If the tour is a camping one, we stay at the Princetown Recreation Reserve which is a great little campground only 7mins drive from the 12 Apostles. Otherwise it’s recommended we stay in Port Campbell where there is a range of accommodation options that I can recommend to you.

Day 2

  • Loch Ard Gorge is the first stop of the day and allows us to see multiple viewpoints of this wild & raw coastline. We’ll see the Razorback, Loch Ard Gorge, Thunder Cave and learn about the gorge’s tragic past.
  • Next its time to head toward the Grampians National Park which is a 2.5hr drive from Port Campbell. We usually aim to arrive at Halls Gap at 12 midday so guests can enjoy lunch in Halls Gap before we spend the afternoon exploring Boroka Lookout, Reids Lookout, McKenzie Falls and taking selfies with the local kangaroos in Halls Gap. For those groups who are a little more active we can also do the 4.2km return walk to the Pinnacles lookout.
  • On the return to Melbourne there is an opportunity to visit one of the local wineries in the Grampians. The region is famous for its cool climate Shiraz and wineries like Best’s and Seppelt have vines which date back to the 1860’s.
